30 Days of Improvement Hell - Self Portrait

So, part of me motivating Lizzy to get a job is that now she is motivating me to become a better artist (read: do any art at all).  So she sent me this art improvement thingy where you do a bunch of things for 30 days, blah blah blah you know the drill.

Here’s day 1: a self portrait.  I based it off the picture below it.  I’m going to have to figure out a better way to take pictures of my art if I keep doing it in a sketchbook, ‘cause I think I kind of took it at an angle and it looks stretched.  Looks a lot better in real life, I guess…

Anyway, wow.  I haven’t drawn anything that close to realism in a long time.  Maybe this will be good for me.

Welp, I made it through my birthday without too many well wishings.  Woot.

In case you missed the reveal in the late hours of the Aquabats chat, yes it was my birthday yesterday.

I don’t like to tell people and make a big fuss over my birthday because I don’t want people making a fuss.  It’s not that I mind getting older; I love it.  It’s just that I feel really awkward, like, everyone is wishing me well not because of something I did, but just because it’s the day I was born.  It makes me kind of embarrassed.  Also, I prefer giving gifts to receiving them.

So, yeah.  I’m 26.  And I am going to be the best 26 year old ever.

Today I was complimented on my shirt by a girl at the California Science Center.

If only she’d been able to see that I was wearing the complete set.

Here it is: Halloween ready.  There are more holsters and weapons and stuff that I’ll add if I wear it to a con, but this is good enough.

I finally found a friend up in Carpenteria who’s doing something.  True it’s very low key looking and stuff, but it’s better than nothing.

This pretty much sums up that adventure day I had with Naff before I went to the desert for a weekend.

Naff is such a rule breaker.
